Here is our weekly meal plan for this week. Although we are heading into spring the weather has taken a very chilly turn so we’re focussing on cheap, easy comfort foods this week to keep us warm.
weekly meal plan – 24th February 2018
Monday – Soup and chunky bread. Leeks are currently in season so they are not only deliciously sweet they’re fairly cheap to buy as well. I’m most probably going to make a leek and potato soup in the slow cooker and accompany it with homemade chunky bread made in the bread maker.
Tuesday – Bacon, leek and mushroom pie. We have some cooking bacon in the freezer that needs eating up as well as homemade pastry. I’m hoping to batch make the filling in the slow cooker so we have enough for another night.
Wednesday – Chicken curry. I’m not sure what kind of chicken curry it will be just yet but it will be served with basmati rice. I still have some chickpea and spinach curry portions in the freezer which I will probably reheat for myself.
Thursday – Pasta bake. Not homemade at all, but we really like the Morisson’s own brand creamy tomato pasta bake. It makes for such an easy tea when I’m feeling tired nearing the end of the week.
Friday – Freezer food/Leftovers. Our leftovers and freezer food night, really quick to throw together when we get in late from after school clubs.
Saturday – Homemade Ravioli. I’ve never made my own pasta before but I keep wanting to so I’ve put it on this weeks meal plan to make. I’m thinking spinach and ricotta filling with a tomato sauce.
Sunday – Roast dinner. Most likely a piece of pork shoulder, roasties, stuffing, lots of veggies and gravy. If I can find some Bramley apples we will have apple sauce alongside also.
I’m linking up with The Organised Life Project and Katykicker for this weekly meal plan linky.
I love the idea of batch making a pie filling in the slow cooker. That pie sounds delicious too!
I really don’t think you can beat a good leek and potato soup when it’s cold out. So good. Great meal plan this week xx #themealplanninglinky
Just bought a bag of leeks and wondering what to do with them! Good luck with the ravioli
Ah, chicken curry. I don’t think there are many weeks go by when we don’t have any kind of curry at all. I like the idea of having something easier towards the end of the week!
Oh I’ve got some leeks in the freezer – and perfect for St David’s Day too! Thanks for linking up again x
