For the last few years I’ve completely skipped dairy and anything made with cows milk. This has mainly been due to a lactose intolerance that seems to have gotten worse and worse over the years. One of my favourite foods was however cheese so finding a good cheese substitute was a big thing for me. Here is my Violife Vegan Cheese Review and what I thought to this vegan cheese.

Violife Vegan Cheese Review
I have tried vegan cheese in the past but I hadn’t tried the Violife brand before. The thing is I was a massive fan of cheese so non dairy cheeses just didn’t seem right to me some how. I think its because when you love the taste and texture of something so much, anything trying to imitate it just doesn’t match up.
Then you have all the different types of cheeses with all their different uses and recipes. I used to love a brie and cranberry panini at Christmas time, or the melted cheese on my lasagne. Yum! So to find out that Violife do a whole host of different styles of cheese was a pleasant surprise.
The different types of Violife Vegan Cheese
The best thing about the Violife brand is that they do so many different styles of cheese. There was literally something for every cheese occasion! They also show you a nice selection of vegan recipes that can be made with each type of cheese.
For reference the different types of cheeses they offer include mature cheddar, smokey cheddar, a camembert alternative as well as their original cheeses in both slices or grated forms.
How does Violife compare?
Okay so vegan cheese is not like regular cheese, not at all like it in my opinion. However, when used in certain recipes it can come pretty darn close to regular cheese! Still, I prefer to treat vegan cheese as an entirely different type of food instead of calling it ‘cheese’.
The taste of the various Violife cheeses is pretty close to the real deal but the texture is often a little different. If you are thinking about going vegan or have discovered a lactose intolerance like myself then it does take some getting used to. I myself don’t mind the taste however and will continue to buy the various Violife cheeses for different meals and recipes.
