Using your freezer effectively can save you money. Even if like myself you only have a small freezer, you can still make some savings.
Prolong your products use by date
If you may have already read my post on how to save money yellow sticker shopping. You will know I buy reduced products that are nearing their use by dates. If I don’t plan on using these products for a few days they go into the freezer to prolong their life. This way you can save a huge chunk of money (sometimes 75% off original price). Always use common sense and read the freezing guidelines or instructions on each product to ensure the food it safe to eat.
Store meals ready to go

Reduce the amount of takeaways you buy
If you have food in your freezer ready to go from batch cooking your less likely to resort to a takeaway on busy days. Alternatively you could buy in some ‘fakeaway’ food to cook up like frozen pizzas, chips or battered fish.
Store back up supplies
Have you ever run out of milk or bread and had to rush out to a convenience store or petrol station? You often notice these places charge a bit more for essentials compared to supermarkets. You’re basically paying extra for the convenience and that’s fair enough. But if you’re as forgetful as I am you may want to consider having a spare loaf of bread or bottle of milk in the freezer ready to go if you run out.
