We have been saving for our forever home for 18 months now. It’s starting to get to the stage where we are getting really fed up of waiting. So I thought I would do some day dreaming about how we plan to have our dream home.
How we plan to have our dream home
Saving for a first home is hard, especially when you already have a family! Recently we’ve been a little bit complacent on saving because we are just so bored of it. So to keep myself on track I’ve started day dreaming about how we plan to have our home, what features we’d love to have etc.
Windows
I love to sit by the window just taking in what’s going on around me or as a different place to get some work done. I love the look of sash windows on a house and I could imagine myself sat on a window seat chilling out there. We would also love those massive wall long bifolding doors in our family room going out onto the garden.
Balcony
I would love a balcony attached to my bedroom. I’m not sure why but I just love the idea of having plants and a small metal table and chairs right outside my room to eat breakfast at or just sit and have coffee. This would be a kind of private garden where I could sit in peace and quiet and just not be disturbed.
Kitchen
I love to spend time in the kitchen so this area is really important to me. A practical clutter free kitchen with maybe a pantry or big storage cupboard. I would absolutely love an aga or range cooker and one of those huge american style fridge freezers. With the cupboards being a country kitchen type style and the worktop being a dark marble type material.
Bathroom
Also very important is the bathroom. Ideally the bathroom would be wall to ceiling tiles with a modern roll top bath and waterfall taps on the sink. I would love for several rooms to have en suite shower rooms in a similar decor but with giant showers instead of a bath.
Family Room
A family room is very important for us as we have children. This would be their chill out room and where they could go to hang out with friends when they have them over.
Living room
A separate living room would be amazing so that the adults have a quite clutter free place to relax in an evening. Filled with comfy cushions and a woodburner this would be a great place to cosy up and watch movies or read books.
Veranda
I have always said that when we buy a house we will have a veranda outside with outdoor sofas and cushions. Kind of like an outdoor living room to enjoy the beautiful evenings and watch the sunset. We would of course have a chimnea for the cooler nights. This would make a great place to entertain friends and family.
