For anyone in a relationship or dating at the moment the current lockdown has been a bit of a bit of a spanner in the works for date nights. I completely agree with the lockdown of course and myself and my family haven’t been outside our home and garden for almost 4 weeks now. My partner and I live together with my 2 children so although we have each other, date nights aren’t quite the same for us. If you’re currently looking for love or not living with your boyfriend/ girlfriend then I’m sure date nights aren’t the same for you too.
How lockdown has affected relationships and dating
However the lockdown shouldn’t mean no more dates for a while. In fact for many people the lockdown has just meant getting very creative with date night ideas. We are incredibly lucky to live in an age where we have FaceTime, Skype or Zoom to stay connected to our loved ones. This can of course work for meeting someone new too.
The idea of dating during lockdown is to get really creative with your dates. Whether you live together with children or you’ve never met and you’re just finding out if this person could be right for you there will be a way to do it.
Lockdown dating while single
If you’re single then you may wonder how you will find a date while not being able to go out to socialise. The easiest way right now is through internet dating. If you want to find someone local then you could google your local area followed by dating for example ‘Fife dating‘. You could get even more niche with the type of person you’re looking for such as ‘over 60s dating in Fife‘.
Once you have found someone you might like to date you may wonder how you can go about it. The cutest idea I heard recently was ordering each other a meal from a local takeaway and getting it delivered to each other. Each person orders for the other person and then you both video call while eating the meal the other person has ordered for you. Other ideas include long distance board games or quiz type games or even watching a movie together over video call.
Lockdown dating as a couple living together
You might think that date nights will be a lot easier for a couple living together but this isn’t always the case. In some cases there are children living in the house too, and the fact you’re always under each others feet can leave you feeling like you’ve seen enough of each other. This is why it is important to set aside some time for just the two of you.
Date night doesn’t need to be anything too mad at the minute. It could just be an hour or two put aside in the evening to play a board game, or do a puzzle together. Or cook up some popcorn and watch a movie with each other (no phones allowed). You could even cook a meal for each other (or just make each other some snacks). The point is you set aside time just for each other. To talk and listen to each other.
