Finding love at any time can be like walking through a minefield. You never know who you’ll be meeting and what sort of person they could be or turn into. Mix in Christmas time to the mix and it usually gets harder for singles to find that special someone. You always expect Father Christmas to bring you your perfect match but instead you end up alone at Christmas. Then add a sprinkle of Covid, social distancing, face masks and limited places to go for good measure and you have a recipe for disaster! Finding love during a pandemic at Christmas time is definitely not going to be easy but it is certainly possible.
Finding love during a pandemic at Christmas time
Let’s face it, 2020 has not been the best of years for anyone. Many people have lost lives, jobs, homes, businesses and lots more. A lot of people have developed mental health issues (as well as physical issues due to being struck down with covid) and things have been particularly tough for most. But while it has been tough we have also seen some amazing resilience and so much kindness and love shown by everyone. Everyone working so hard for the NHS, delivery companies that have been inundated by the new way of shopping online, supermarkets and charities working extra hard for the vulnerable to get food out to people who need it the most.
With the new covid Christmas rules recently announced people have a big decision on who they will choose to spend Christmas 2020 with. This can cause even more issues if you are single and looking to mingle to find love this year. The big work Christmas party or the family get togethers just aren’t going to happen. Luckily in 2020 we have modern ways of finding love in the way of online dating sites and apps.
Finding love with local dating sites in 2020
If your looking for love in the local area then a local dating site is probably your best bet. If you live in Northamptonshire for instance you could google Northamptonshire dating site. Or Northamptonshire dating to find a local site. This could mean that over Christmas you could meet someone new in the virtual world instead. It won’t be the same as usual but if it means finding the love of your life does it really matter? It would definitely make an interesting tale for the grandchildren one day!
Having a first date online at Christmas
Having your first date online may feel strange but it can still be really fun. Use Skype or FaceTime. Dress up, do your hair and make up as and really make the same effort as usual. You could even come up with a first date Christmassy theme if that’s what your into. Maybe a Christmas jumper date or silly Christmas outfits. You could play a board game or both order each others takeaway. Just have fun with it and get to know each other. That’s what a first date is all about isn’t it? It shouldn’t matter if its virtual or in person.
Having a socially distanced first date
If you feel like you would really like to meet up in person and depending on your tier of course. You could even try a socially distanced first date outdoors. Grab a picnic blanket, a basket of food and a nice hot flask of coffee, tea or hot chocolate and meet up in a local area. Just make sure to wrap up very warm and stick to social distancing rules. If you don’t think this would work for you then the online approach would probably be better.
Getting to know someone over Christmas
As I said before this year has been particularly difficult for most. If you don’t quite feel yourself then its probably best to be honest with anyone you do meet. But at the same time don’t feel pressured into meeting anyone right now if you’re not yourself and you don’t feel ready. We all react differently to traumatic events. Some of us like to get one with it and carry on as usual but others don’t. If you’re feeling pressured by society, family or friends then listen to yourself. If you don’t feel like now is the right time to meet someone new then don’t do it. The truth about finding love is that you have to have some love for yourself first.
Christmas in particular is a strange time and 2020 is going to be stranger still. Lots of people act differently over this time of year for a range of reasons. Which is why this is not the time of year to rush into anything you’re not ready for.
